Supporting Our Favorite “Kitties”

Friday, July 29th is International Tiger Day! And 2022 is the Year of the Tiger!

If you’ve ever been to Pittsboro, there’s a good chance you’ve visited our neighbors over at Carolina Tiger Rescue. Year after year, they rank as the number one thing to do when visiting Pittsboro. Our staff’s favorite tour is the twilight tour during the warmer months when the lions are often “singing” to each other. (You must make a reservation to visit the animals.)

Our Mission: Saving and protecting wild cats in captivity and in the wild through rescue and education. We work toward a day when wild cats are living in their native habitat and are not exploited by humans.

In order to be true to our mission and values, Carolina Tiger Rescue focuses on three main areas: Rescue, Education, and Advocacy.

We love to support their mission and the cats (and other awesome creatures) in many ways throughout the year, including sponsoring the Black Tie and Tails Ball in February.

To celebrate International Tiger Day, Carolina Tiger Rescue hosts their virtual 5K Fun Race. This year, it’s being kicked off here at The Plant on Friday, July 29th at 5 pm. If you’d like to join, consider joining the Starrlight team – Kinkajous. A kinkajou is a cute creature whose nickname is Honey Bear.

You can see why we love them!

Here at Starrlight Mead, we are celebrating all month by committing to donate $2 from each tasting to Carolina Tiger Rescue! We have even invented a special sangria recipe to celebrate – Sparkling Bengal Spice Sangria – made with our Honeyed Chai herb infused mead. You can have it here on the weekend starting July 29th or make your own at home!

Have you visited Carolina Tiger Rescue? Why do you love it?
