Intermediate Mead Making – Melomels: Adding Fruit
Class: Saturday, July 11, 2026, 10-1
In this intermediate class, we will talk about melomels, or mead with fruit, from dry wine-like fruit meads to big “fruit bombs”. Does it make a difference if you add the fruit in the primary, secondary, or after fermentation? What about pectic haze - what causes it and what should you do about it? We’ll answer all these questions and more. We’ll also taste some examples of different fruit meads.
$50 single, $75 for two people
See additional info below for requirements for this class!
Class takes place on July 11, 2026, from 10 am - 1 pm at the meadery in Pittsboro. All class participants MUST be over 21! No exceptions. Must sign up by 07/08/26.
IMPORTANT: This is an intermediate class, and attendees must have a basic understanding of home mead making processes, equipment, and terms and have made a few home mead batches. Although we love Joe’s Ancient Orange, it does NOT qualify as mead making experience!
If you are purchasing this as a gift, let us know and we’ll send a gift certificate for the class for you to present to your loved one.
